For young children, using scales and weighing items provides a wealth of opportunities to develop skills related to Understanding the World. This set allows them to learn about the relative weights of objects and understand that bigger does not always mean heavier. As it is a balance, they learn about equilbrium too. You can also incorporate sorting activities (sort by weight) and of course it links into early maths.
This set includes te scales, 2 weighing trays and 6 weights of 3 different individual weights. The ‘arms’ of the scale move according to the relative weights and they can learn how to balance them when the red pointer is pointing directly down.
